Making the best of it - Part 1

The Bathroom

If we were planning on selling our home then something drastic would need to be done to our bathroom. If I were a buyer there are so many negatives in this room I would pick up on, and in my head I would be knocking the asking price down by £1000’s. However many of the jobs won’t cost a lot to rectify and won’t take much time either.

With other projects taking priority in 2020 it looks unlikely that the bathroom will be done this year, however I feel the need to take action and ‘make the best of it’. This will also be an experiment to see what is possible on a very small budget of £250 and how much I can improve the appeal of this room without tackling the big jobs.

At the start of any project it’s a good idea to make a list. You can use your list to plan and prioritise work.

This is my list…

  • Repaint white woodwork

  • Cover or replace broken tiles above the toilet.

  • Re seal everywhere

  • Fill gaps with decorators caulk

  • New storeage unit

  • New light, mirror, cabinet above sink

  • Re grout tiles

  • Descale tiles

  • Replace shower curtain with glass screen

  • Replace taps and shower head

  • Add curtain or blind

  • Clean or replace ceiling light

If you are considering selling your house then making a list of small jobs you can do yourself is a great place to start. You’ll be surprised at the difference they will make to the appearance and overall appeal of your home.

It’s so important to make your home stand out on the property market for the right reasons.
